Atlantics (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Released
A beautiful, slow-cooked thriller of a movie demands a beautifully slow-cooked thriller of a score. The Cannes Prix-winning Sengalese film, Atlantics - directed by Mati Diop - has all the trappings of excellent foreign horror (it’s lush on the eyes, gently horrifying, filled with phantoms muttering in French), yet Al Qadiri chose to drape an ice-cold electronic palette and a lot of disturbing drones across the necks of everyone in the film. For those who’re generally very down to feel terrified, the soundtrack does an excellent job at giving you the sort of anxiety that feels almost tough to pinpoint.
