Com Você… Meu Mundo Ficaria Completo

Released

In “Com Você… Meu Mundo Ficaria Completo,” the frenzy of Cássia Eller slows down to gain more sober contours. It is true that Eller has always been acclaimed for her scathing vocal performance — she is, after all, considered the biggest female singer of 1990’s rock from Brazil. The softer tone she assumes in this album, however, is a pleasant surprise and reaffirms Eller’s place in the history of Brazilian music. Widening the spectrum of musical possibilities that Eller plays with, but without putting rock aside, “Com Você…” works with elements from jazz, MPB, and even baião. The title track, one of the album’s most famous, is a sarcastic rock song explaining how all problems are not as big as impossible love. Other successes are “Gatas Extraordinárias,” which is more of an MPB arrangement; and “Segundo Sol”, a more introspective rock composition. Two underrated songs that deserve a spotlight are “Aprendiz de Feiticeiro,” a delightful arrangement of bass, triangle, and accordion; and “Maluca,” which combines beautiful poetry with Eller’s dramatic interpretation.
