Doing away with the twee pop influence of their earlier releases, Mexico City’s Belafonte Sensacional turned it loose with a short album that felt like a rebirth by fire. The riotous feeling was present from the get-go in the mostly-a-cappella “Convocatoria para el Destroy” that led to the frenetic skiffle of “Ponte al tiro.” There was also the sober and emotive “Caramelos de cemento” while the Springsteen-ian “Hay hormigas en el baño, John” kept the rock n’ roll joy levels high.
