Edwin Birdsong

Released

The fourth album from organist, keyboardist and vocalist Edwin Birdsong, his first on PIR, is definitely one of the least-Philly-style records in their catalogue. Pretty much devoid of the usual disco strings and orchestration, this is a collection of experimental disco built around extremely funky drums and bass with plenty of organ, keys and synth licks. Its particular blend of funky bass, futuristic synths and 4/4 disco beats made from drums and drum machines make this an extremely prescient record that has dated very well.
