Elegy

Released

These Finnish masters of magic and mayhem succeeded in some spectacular sorcery on their third collection of tales from the Thousand Lakes. Previously a (pretty brutal!) death metal band, on Elegy they tapped into the folklore and folk music of their native land and crafted a progressive metal opus. This adaptation of traditional Finnish stories into lovely and melancholy melodies placed more reliance on clean vocals and keyboards to counterbalance the growls and fierce metallic backdrop. “My Kantele” and “Elegy” transport the listener to a land far away.
