Here, My Dear

Released

Ostensibly recorded to help cover his divorce settlement from Anna Gordy, Marvin Gaye’s Here, My Dear was poorly received in 1978 but is now celebrated as one of Gaye’s most personal efforts as well as a top tier break-up/fuck you album. His devastatingly candid confessionals — none more to the point than “When Did You Stop Loving Me, When Did I Stop Loving You” — are mirrored in the lushness of Gaye’s arrangements and production, some of the best of his career.
