Freitas Branco: Orchestral Works, Vol. 2: Symphony No. 2 - After a Reading of Guerra Junqueiro - Artificial Paradises

Luis de Freitas Branco was a Portuguese expressionist, heavy on the cinematic and punchy. Imagine Ramin Djawadi crossed with Strauss, and you’ve got some of the idea. Alvaro Cassuto puts the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra through its paces and keeps the colors bright. This is skillful and robust stuff.
