Reset in Dub cover
Released

Pairing Animal Collective’s Panda Bear with Spacemen 3’s erstwhile co-cosmonaut Sonic Boom, 2022’s Reset was a glorious collision of pre-Beatles pop and spangled psychedelia, partly pieced together from the latter’s collection of old 45s. Here, On-U Sound head honcho Adrian Sherwood retools the entire album, scraping out cavernous skanks, trouser-flapping low-end explorations and hitherto undiscovered grooves from the source material’s wonky psych ditties. On the likes of “Everyday Dub”’s dancehall-ish clatter, the frazzled swirl of “Go On Dub” and “Whirlpool Dub”’s meandering saxophone-led drift, Sherwood pulls an already out-there classic even further out.
