According to the Haitian-Quebecois jazz multi-instrumentalists, this album emerged accidentally and spontaneously. Intended simply as a warmup for his band but caught on hard drive, in the moment it became an hour long “ritual” embodying the spirit of the Haitian revolution in an extraordinary collision of free and spiritual jazz, hip hop, Afro percussion hypnosis and a whole lot more. Containing triumph and terror, ecstasies and mourning, it’s quite unlike anything else and absolutely commands you listen to it in its entirety.
