Untitled #23 cover

Untitled #23

Released

Titled that way because it was, indeed, the 23rd full studio album by the band’s count, on Untitled #23 the Church celebrated its near-30th anniversary overall with an air towards gentle, steady reveries, accentuated at points with subtle orchestration and additional vocals. Songs like “Pangaea,” “Deadman’s Hand” and “Sunken Sun” exemplify the easy-going feeling of the proceedings, but it’s not all quite like that: “Space Saviour” doesn’t explode but does have a good building arrangement that feels like things are, appropriately, about to take off.
