Too Much Sadness

Released

The title may seem almost melodramatic, but when one considers that, as Chihei Hatakeyama explains in the liner notes, that these pieces – particularly the title track – were recorded in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear disaster, too much still might not be enough. Drawing from samples of an unidentified record and the resultant interaction between music and static that he heard, Too Much Sadness is easily one of his most tactile releases, with the music emerging from murk as sudden quick crackles of rhythm interact and transform the results.
